This project aims to repair or replace the old water and sewer systems in downtown Raleigh. Many of the water and sewer lines in this area are really crucial and are in poor condition. The Phase Three project is being developed in advance to support the future New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit project.
Benefits
- Replaces aging water and sewer lines
- Prepares streets for future Bus Rapid Transit projects
- Supports growth and reliability for years to come
Traffic Impacts
We understand that temporary lane closures and parking restrictions can be inconvenient for people who live, work, and enjoy their time downtown. However, updating old infrastructure now can help avoid emergency pipe breaks in the future, which would cause a much larger disruption.
Current Impacts
Plan ahead if you're traveling through the intersection of S. Blount Street and E. Lenoir Street. A full intersection closure for a Capital Improvement Project may cause traffic impacts and delays. A detour will be in place.
Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Nov. 6, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
S. Blount Street and E. Lenoir Street: Intersection closure
Crews will be working along S. Blount Street and E. Lenoir Street throughout the project. Drivers should slow down, follow posted detour signs and watch for crews in the roadway. Use an alternate route when possible.
Plan ahead if you're traveling on E. Lenoir Street. A full road closure will be in place for construction work and may cause traffic impacts and delays. Detour signs will direct traffic, and local traffic and parking lot access will remain available.
Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Nov. 6, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
E. Lenoir Street: Between S. Wilmington Street and S. Blount Street
Drivers should slow down, follow posted detours and use caution around construction crews in the roadway. Remain alert for other travelers and use an alternate route when possible.
